I was just grading homework- the kids are in 4th-6th grade and they have been learning English for about 2.5 years.
These questions are in their Listening Comprehension, where they listen to a CD and write what they hear. The one question is supposed to be, "How many daughters does your father have?" Except most of the kids write something like "How many dollars does your father have?" or "How many dogs does your father have?" The best was one kid who correctly wrote daughters, but wrote, "He only has one thousand daughters."
They also have to listen to a word, look it up in their dictionary, and write a 7-word sentnece. One of the words was "oxen". Sometimes they stretch to hit 7 words- "My sister treasures her toy oxen forever." Hmmm. One kid hear that word as artist and wrote "The man earns a precarious living as an artist." I think he got that sentence from somewhere...
