That John Denver song is inexplicably popular here. If a karaoke disk only has one English song, that'll be it. You hear it all the time. When I tell people what state I'm from, it's a toss-up between saying, "It's below New York" or "It's above West Virginia, you know-" then sing "West Virginia, mountain mama, take me home, country road..." People are inevitably more impressed with the latter.
Right now, someone outside my window is listening to a jazz version of that song, and now I am too.
