Sleeplessness

Sleeping has not been going well for me lately. All my life I've sometimes had trouble getting to sleep but once I'm asleep I'm out for the count. Now I'm usually OK getting to sleep but I wake up in the middle of the night for 2 or 3 or 4 hours. And that has all added up. So now I'm crazy sleep-deprived girl.

I'm slowly figuring out what allows me to sleep through the night. It goes something like this:

Drink water all day but then none for a couple of hours before you go to bed
No caffeine after 1 o'clock
No alcohol at all
No sugar after dinner
Acutally, the only thing you should eat after dinner is a granola bar with peanut butter and a glass of milk
If you do wake up, don't play games or read something you want to read; re-read something you didn't enjoy the first time, or the English-learning section of the paper
Figure out the exact temperature that won't make you wake up because you're cold or hot (this is the thing that's getting me now- that and I either wake up really thirsty or really having to pee)

If I could just get a night or 2 of real sleep it would be so nice. We'll see.

I have similar problems and found that wearing quality earplugs (cheap ones are uncomfortable and not too effective) made a big difference.

Apparently random noises were waking me up and leaving me unable to go back to sleep.

Keep on truckin'!
