Every week kids learn 10 "daily life" words. Right now we're on food and a lot of the words are Western foods which leads to some interesting discussions. Today we had, among other things, "meat sauce" and "gravy". I tried to explain to them how to make gravy.
Then I had them write a conversation between themselves and a waiter using 5 of the words. Here's an excerpt from one of the smartest kids in the class:
Waiter: Today's special is spaghetti and meat sauce.
Me: Oh. What's meat sauce?
Waiter: It's what comes out of the turkey or chicken when you cook it.
(I think she got it a little mixed up.)
